PTI Slab-on-Grade Update
Presented by Mr. Dean Read, P.E., with Geostructural Tool Kit, Inc. and Joey Hulsey, E.I.T.
BIO: Dean Read, P.E., earned a BS in Architectural Engineering and a Master of Science in Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He holds professional engineering registrations in nine states from Colorado to Florida and also the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. He is the owner and president of MLAW Forensics, Inc. where he is active in new designs, forensics investigations, and remedial designs and provides expert testimony. He is also the owner, director, president and chief software programmer of Geostructural Tool Kit, Inc., used throughout the United States for the design and analysis of foundations on expansive and compressible soils. Mr. Read serves on professional committees of the Post-Tensioning Institute, American Society of Civil Engineers, and ASTM International. He has co-authored numerous publications and regularly presents continuing education courses and seminars.
BIO: Joey Hulsey holds a BS in Civil Engineering from Texas Tech University.
ABSTRACT: This presentation will cover the history of the Post-Tensioning Institute’s (PTI’s) design procedure and Building Code requirements related to the design of post-tensioned slabs-on-ground. Recent changes (some published and some waiting to be published) to the PTI design procedure will also be presented. In addition, clarifications and frequently asked questions regarding provisions that may not be fully understood or are frequently misapplied will also be discussed.
