New Underground Stormwater Detention Solutions

Presented by Ms. Andreea Simescu, P.E., and David Knight with Contech Engineering Solutions

BIO: Andreea Simescu is Senior Stormwater Consultant for Houston, Louisiana, and Mississippi and specializes in stormwater treatment and detention design. She is a graduate of Portland State University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and has over 19 years in the engineering industry. Since joining Contech Engineered Solutions 17 years ago, she has been focused on Stormwater and LID solutions. She is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Andreea resides in Houston, Texas with her husband and two sons.

BIO: David Knight is Area Manager and Sales Engineer for Houston Gulf. He collaborates closely with owners, developers, and contractors to create innovative solutions for civil site projects. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the University of North Texas and brings 8 years of experience in the construction and engineering industry. At Contech, David specializes in drainage, sanitary, and underground detention solutions. He resides in Houston, Texas with his wife and daughter.

ABSTRACTThe choice of materials directly affects the performance, longevity, and costs of stormwater detention systems. A thorough understanding of available materials options empowers civil engineers to design stormwater detention systems that are efficient, cost-effective, and easy to maintain. In this presentation, Contech engineers will give engineers the information they need to evaluate and select the best detention material for use on various sites. Learn how engineers solved stormwater storage challenges on four unique projects, four material options for underground storage and when to use each one, and how to reduce long-term maintenance costs by design with maintenance in mind
